Hide and Seek

It has been a long, hot weekend. Saturday was my friend Lauren's 17th so we went to her house and ate & watched the cutest movie ever. It was called Love and Other Disasters and had Brittany Murphy in it. It was great. I will post pics later because I used my Holga & need to develop the film. Sunday was the American Apparel Factory Flea Market at their factory in downtown LA. It was reallllly hot and the line took us like four hours. But it was still fun. I got asked if I wanted to work for American Apparel and got my picture taken. I met lots of lovely, interesting people. Here are some photos below I took with my old camera (click to enlarge):

F Yeah Fest 5 with No Age, Ladyhawke, Mika Miko, Crystal Antlers, Matt & Kim, etc is coming up. And the LA Scavenger Hunt is the next day. I am really excited.

Have any of you seen the Dark Knight yet? Oh that's a silly question; 99% of you probably did. I really want to but haven't found the time. Let me know what you guys think of the movie. I heard it was epic.

Here is the post I had been planning to put up for days.. Sorry for the delay, lovelies.
The day before yesterday, I adopted the cutest puppy. His name is Max, he's black, and he's half cocker spaniel and half labrador retriever. He honestly is the most gorgeous dog I have ever seen. He is still in the process of getting familiarized with my fish and especially my cat. But all will be well in due time. I will post photos as soon as my expired fuji experia film comes in the mail with my lomo london notebook.

Leading a sedentary summer has induced chronic hunger. I am constantly stuffing myself. So here is an ode to my favorite restaurants and haunts in and around Los Angeles, in case you ever get the urge to delve in gastronomic delights. My mother is a chef and professed slave to food so I am somewhat seasoned in finding great food here. So let us commence.

Situated in the heart of Los Angeles on Melrose Avenue, Lucuqes is arguably one of the best restaurants around. It's one of my favorites, and everyone loved it when I held my Sweet Sixteen birthday party there. The beignets (french donuts) here are a must, served with ice cream, if they are available at the time. The sunday suppers here are also marvelous.

I am proud to say I have been a satisfied patron of Amandine Patisserie/Cafe since I was 7 years old. Amadine is a local favorite for cakes and other bakery items, although their omelettes and sandwiches are delightful as well. I turn to Amandine almost exclusively for my cake needs (they made my 16th birthday cake with lots of chocolate mousse and such) and they never disappoint. Stop by for a casual cup of coffee and slice of tart.

A meal in the rustic La Pain Quotidien will hit the spot anytime of day. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, you name it. I have been going here for years and just love the little sandwiches (my favorite is the dinde rotie) and the mint lemonade. I've been to three locations and love all of them (except the Los Angeles one has terrible parking that borders on insanity).

Nestled in beautiful Malibu inside the lovely outdoor mart (which has stores like Shabby Chic, Chrome Hearts, Madison, Lisa Kline, Ralph Lauren, Ron Herman...), Tra di Noi is the place to go for superb Italian cooking and celebrity sightings (I've seen Lindsay Lohan and Will Ferrell). Although you could choose to eat inside or on their outdoor patio (which will many times feature a live cellist or violinist), most people including myself order to go and eat at one of the many picnic tables in the middle of the mart. The pizzas, especially the one with eggplants, are great, as well as the pastas. They also offer wine to go, which is complete Malibu chic.

Located on one of the more interesting streets in Los Angeles, 3 Square Cafe + Bakery is a charm. Although the lines are very long, the food is worth the wait. The avocado fries and the calamari fritto misto are in my opinion the best dishes. While waiting, you can head next door to one of the best design stores in town, A+R. Across the street is also the amazing patisserie/tea house Jian and the clothing store Salt (which carries Hache, Opening Ceremony, Issey Miyake). If you don't have the time to wait, you can take baked goods to go in their bakery area, which is right next door to the restaurant.

There are a lot more, but I will write about them later I guess. And next time I'll include places in Northern California, San Diego and Las Vegas!

Looking at the F/W prete-a-porter collections, I think this season so far has been very hit or miss. Take for example this look from A.F. Vandevorst:

I like the ensemble, as well as the hairstyle (very Alexander McQueen circa s/s 08). It's very put together and structured, something you would expect from the minimalist duo. However, a look at another ensemble from the same collection proves to be the exact opposite:

This look isn't very flattering. The layering is confusing and the different contours, silhouettes, textures, and patterns really clash in an unfavorable light.

Through looking at many of the looks from other collections, I'm seeing looks I either love or loathe. What are some of your favorite loves/hates in the F/W 2008 collections?

I'm trying to get my hands on the Smena 8m. My Holga is great but I rarely get to shoot medium format with it since it's hard to develop. I almost always modify it to take 35mm which is also a pain. So the Smena is perfect for me!

Today I'd like to introduce a very special designer and his label. Cody Ross, of Priestess NYC, is a relative newcomer to the fashion scene yet has already dressed the likes of Leigh Lezark of the MisShapes, Tyra Banks, Juliette Lewis of Juliette and the Licks, and Greta Cavazzoni. The London School of Economics grad takes cues from avant-garde art and vintage punk to create clean-cut looks that are all his own. What I like about Ross's designs are their versatility. They are very much wearable yet invoke both elegance and sophistication, the true mark of city girls. The clothes also integrate just the right amounts of color, pattern, and dramatic cuts to produce simplistic and regal looks.(Please click on the images to view a larger size)

Priestess NYC is classy yet hip and fresh, and one of my favorite pieces involves a mickey mouse pattern that is very reminiscent of Jeremy Scott. The upscale boutiques that carry Priestess NYC are testaments to its high quality creations. Ross's designs are available at stores like Colette in Paris, D-Mop in Hong Kong, Podium, TG-170 in New York, Lane Crawford, Barneys New York, Sucre, and Shine. It is finally spring. I'm seeing flowers and sunlight. Glory to the sun. I saw Swedish musicians Lykke Li and El Perro Del Mar a couple weeks ago at the El Rey theater in Los Angeles. Anna Ternheim, another talented Swedish songstress, opened the show. It was a wonderful night of soulful music and I had lots of fun. I went with my lovely friend Jackie H of sweatersandvests.blogspot.com. Lykke Li and El Perro Del Mar were truly amazing... Check their music out! I am in love with a new label. Designed impeccably by Joanne Reyes, Vicente Villarin is a line that Reyes named after her grandfather. Couture-inspired frothy frocks make up most of the collection. The pieces flatter figures and make women feel bold and daring, while staying elegant and classy of course.

Debuting with a Fall 2008 collection, Reyes has worked with a number of famed designers such as J. Mendel, Ji Haye, and Monique Lhuillier. For this Vicente Villarin collection, she was inspired by the classical architecture present in Paris and Florence. The result is clothing that flatters the form, is geometrically pleasing to the eye, embodies soft yet elegant colors, and gives joy to the wearer.

Here's a designer that's recently been making the headlines:

THUY DIEP

Wow just take a look at those colors.. Very vibrant, very fresh, almost reminiscent of Karen Walker's lovely confections. Thuy Diep, and her label THUY, has delighted the fashion world with perfect tailoring, layering, bold colors, and asymmetry. Diep honed her talents at Parsons and just recently launched her NYC-based line with a fall 2008 collection.

Coming from generations of Vietnamese tailors, she tries her best to put creativity, thought, and effort into her pieces, incorporating much of the personal connection that designers of the past had with their pieces. Hard work is evident through the abundance of carefully cut fabric and perfectly aligned seams. She takes an organic approach to both design and tailoring, making Diep one of the most exciting new comers to watch for in the coming months.

I've never paid much attention to the art of shoe designing, but this new label has me obsessed. Keller, the brainchild of designer Kelly Clark, consists of gorgeous and well-made shoes that make you want to walk on your hands instead of your feet. Soft colors and timeless designs make Keller a definite keeper.

Label Velour, hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, is a fashion maven's dream come true. It's where indie hipster vibes converge with ultra haute couture looks--something we've all been waiting for. Take a look at these pictures and tell me.. could they be the next big thing?

To me Velour represents a contradiction.. casual chic and runway looks unite to create a label both stylish yet street-smart. You could wear any of these pieces to an underground party and then head off to dinner with your mother. I love that.

I'm told these pieces are available at Opening Ceremony, both at New York and Los Angeles.

I wanted to talk about the Cory Kennedy + Ksubi + Cobrasnake shirt.

I absolutely adore Cory and her style, know many people that know her and even hang out in the same places and with the same people she did before she became an internet star. However, I'd like to ask Miss Kennedy, what is this outrage? A t shirt with a picture of her and Paris Hilton for $100+ ?? I understand that these are limited edition and are a pretty big deal (seeing as they involve three of the most respected figures in culture), but I think they're a bit pricey. Cory isn't yet an internationally famous designer, nor are the regular Cobrasnake shirts this expensive. The shirt itself ain't all that bad, but I think future collabs like this should carry a smaller price tag.

It's that time of the year again...The fashion giants come out to play and they're here to show off their best. Here are some highlights:

Bruno Pieters

Bruno Pieters wowed the crowd with slim, menswear looks, working the runway with some tidy and classy pieces. Monochrome never looked better.

Devastee

Playful, charming, yet elegantly sophisticated, Devastee's pieces are all a girl could want in her closet. Eerie illustrations and quirky colors complete this collection and brand it with an A+.

BLESS Nº 34

Bless No 34 excited the audience with their futuristic and chic looks, which looked disheveled and pulled-together at the same time. Complete with a warehouse location filled with sports cars and bikes, this show was one to remember.

A.F. Vandevorst

This collection was titled "Angels with Dirty Faces", which conjures for me a contradictory image. The husband-and-wife designer duo put the models in some lovely clothing, smeared their faces with ink, and pushed them out on to the catwalk. The result? Something quite impressive.

Gaspard Yurkievich

Just take a look at those vibrant patterns...Who can resist? With the theme of Paris in the 70's and its muses during that time, Yurkievich certainly does a wonderful job in evoking the extravagant, chic look that was iconic during that decade.

Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant is always a favorite of mine for carefully crafted pieces that add a dash of spunk to every outfit. This collection is full of pieces that are no different, as Marant goes mad for plaid. Last night I watched one of my favorite movies of all time for like the millionth time. Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, or simply Amélie, stars Audrey Tatou as the main character and Matheiu Kassovitz as the object of her affection, Nino Quincompoix [he looks adorable in the movie by the way]. I watched it without subtitles because I didn't want anything to detract from the wonderful totalement francais mood [and to brush up on my French]. I love this movie because of its incredible feel-good ending and the amazing scenes of la vie parisienne. While watching it last night, I realized that a lot of the movie's feel came from how Amélie dressed. Below are some stills from the film. The places in this movie really make me want to move to Montmartre someday.

Robert Geller may only tailor to men, but I couldn't resist but mention him because I would gladly help myself to his pieces. Refined and cool, it's possibly one of the best menswear labels out there.

Heimstone is a true favorite of mine, perhaps because of the soft colors and the feminine designs that also evoke femme fatale! With a mix of light and dark, and a dash of playful charm, who can resist?

Headed by a former model for the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Stine Goya turns her knack for style into the label Stine Goya, with funky pieces flaunting exploding prints. Taking things to new heights with daring experimentation, Goya has the heart of a true designer. We can only watch and wait to see what she will come up with next.

Today's label of the day is Los Angeles-based Cavern. The child of creative designers Adam Tullie and Angeline Rivas, Cavern creates sweet yet funky tees and shirts that are geometric wonders.

Determined to distinguish themselves from the rest, Tuille and Rivas set out to create something different than the others. With metallic shapes and mystic symbols, their main goal appears to be making everything as abstract as possible.

Could they possibly be the next big thing? Only time will tell.

Saturday, took a trip to venice beach and had a blast. I ate in downtown LA first and then headed over to Santa Monica and drove to Venice from there. I stopped at Salt, which had a lot of great labels like Opening Ceremony which are hard to find. Had some desserts at Jin Patisserie which was amazing and visited some amazing gorgeous stores.

I'm hyped for Paper Magazine's Los Angeles Project which starts tomorrow!! The Paper Mag LA project is when people from the magazine throw parties and stuff throughout the week and everyone just gets to have a great time.

Helllooooo. I was at Knott's Scary Farm yesterday, and yeah, it was scary.

I want to start off by highlighting a couple of my personal favorite labels I can't live without. Click pictures for bigger size.

First is... KAREN WALKER!
Quirky, fun, yet classy, Karen Walker defines street chic. Her stuff can be worn on the street casually and also works at fancy places at night. From eyewear, clothing, to jewelry, Karen Walker immortalizes fashion with unbelievable style. Go Karen! These pictures are from her Fall 2007 ready-to-wear collection.

My second favorite is the more obscure, KTZ, short for Kokon to Zai.
Idolized by hipsters everywhere from London to Japan, KTZ sets the standard for avant-garde fashion. Graphics galore! Kokon to Zai is actually a chain of I believe two shops, one in London and another one in Paris. They carry brands such as Tsumori Chisato [love her!], Vivienne Westwood, Alexandre Herchcovitch, Raf Simmons, Gareth Pugh, Bernhard Willhelm, and others, as well as their own KTZ brand.

Moving on.

COATS! I live in Los Angeles where coats are rather unnecessary. But it's fun to wear them nonetheless and have people staring at you. If you live somewhere where it's actually cold during winter, consider these as your must-haves for the season.

I'm really into minimalist clothing these days.. Like Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane, Helmut Lang, Jil Sander, etc. One designer that really pulls off the minimalist look well is Ohne Titel. From all black, to a mix of colorful prints, this designer's approach to style is sure to sweep even the most adamant of skeptics off their feet!
The collection consisting mostly of black was the Fall/Winter 2007 collection and the other two colorful looks were recently featured on the runway as the Spring/Summer 2008 collection.

Helllooow. Long time no post. I'm very very very busy these days. Since the last time I've posted, a lot of many interesting things have happened in the world of fashion. Like the New York and London fash weeks... Paris fashion week is coming up which will be amazing.. My friend Brian Lichtenberg, head designer and owner of label Brian Lichtenberg, seems to be esp. excited for Balenciaga on Oct. 2nd.

So... this post will be like the last one, except it'll be some of my favorite shows from London fashion week. I don't have much time to elaborate on the details of each collection but here are the looks I think deserve a mention.

Drawing to a Close...

The end of summer is near! I had to go change my school schedule today and it took forever... I had to wait in the sun in a line for like three hours... But I got all the courses I wanted so atleast that worked out...
My mom was gone the whole day with her best friend so I had to get rides from my friends. My mom went to Melrose to eat and shop with her friend. When she came back, I was relieved to see that she didn't forget me. She stopped by Marc by Marc Jacobs on Melrose Ave. and got me a some things from the 2007 limited edition special items. She got my sister a canvas tote with the Marc by Marc Jacobs logo on it. It's the one on the left in the picture below.

As for me, I've been needing a wallet for a while, so she got me a metallic copper quilted wallet. She also got me two plastic bracelets with large circle beads, in orange and green.

School is starting next week, but my mom promised me she would take me to Melrose before then... And I'm also attending the Neighborhood Music Festival in downtown Los Angeles on September 29th. That should be exciting.

Today's label of the day is Wren, a relatively new brand.
With a mixture of vintage, elegance, quirk, and charm, Wren's clothing is for romantic "girls on the move". Head designer Melissa Coker has previously worked with Helmut Lang [one of my favorites!], Vogue, W, and Abercrombie&Fitch.

Wren is available at Opening Ceremony in NYC and LA.

i just bought the Le Pliage Poodle bag from the Jeremy Scott and Longchamp collaboration.
There are only a 100 available [until Jeremy Scott's winter line debuts in October with more bags] and can only be bought in Colette, Paris. So I had no choice but to get it from colette.fr and pay about $50 for shipping. But hopefully it's worth it because I am a huge Jeremy Scott fan. Here's a picture:

Tired and don't have much time so quick post.
I went to the park today with my family. The weather was perfect- not too cold, not too warm.
My outfit was this: [sorry for the pictures- i had to take them by myself so i couldn't take them wearing the clothes... won't happen again, i promise!]
I went for the carefreeeeee look today, nothing polished or cinched, with the shorts high waisted and the loose tank tops.
On the inside, I wore a red limited edition organic cotton tank top from Nike. On top of that, I wore a Dolce&Gabbana tank top that I wear as a dress and tucked it inside of a pair of shorts from my mother's closet. Since the shorts were a bit too large, I wore an elastic belt by A Common Thread and didn't put it through the belt loops to keep it from looking too nerdy. For shoes, I chose a lady-like pair of Chanel heels [really small heels, almost flats!] because I thought it looked nice. Again, I apologize for the terrible pictures. (:

Yeahhhhhhh. I'm super excited for the Neighborhood Festival.
People performing include Crystal Castles, the Faint, Steve Aoki, and moreeeeee. And plus it's LA which means afterwards we can go partay. One thing I love about living in Los Angeles... Always somewhere to go!

The title of today's post is the name of a song by the Strokes, only the best band on earth (: They are probably one of the biggest parts and influences of my life... Please release an album soon and go on tour!!!!
Lots of things I want to write about today so let's get started!!
Thursday, I got super long bangs...I think they turned out alright! Friday I was at a friend's sweet sixteen party...Saturday I was at Little Tokyo in Los Angeles to attend the annual Tofu Festival which was a lot of fun. I had a lot of tofu, too, and get this... I drank a tofu margarita. Needless to say, it was... nasty. Hahaha. Well, that concludes my "diary" and let's move on to the important stuff...

Today's designer of the day is Samantha Pleet!
Mixing a little bit of the dark and light, her clothing combines Gothic elements with modern concepts.

Her designs evokes playfulness and a little bit of the dark side and obviously are just plain gorgeous. I like these clothes so much I'm adding a few more looks from the Fall 2007 collection:

Recently, I've been obsessed with fine jewelry. Their timeless appeal allows them to be worn with almost anything without looking awkward and adds a touch of class to an outfit. One of my favorite jewelry brands creates almost all of its jewelry in solid gold without just plating or dipping in gold [a sign that you're getting your money's worth!].

Bittersweets NY makes bracelets, necklaces, rings, earrings, and more, in simple yet disturbingly morbid ways. There are everything from vampire teeth rings and necklaces to earthworm bangles, beating heart charms and maggot bracelets. I'm not too big of a fan of umm morbid things but what sold me was these tiny letter rings. Available at bittersweetsny.com and comes in three shades of gold [white, rose, and yellow]. They are customizable with letters and numbers [up to 4 i think, $8 for each additional] and are solid gold [explains the price for such a small thing]! Click on the picture for a bigger one because you can't really read what it says..

They're cute but it says on the website that you can "stack em up". I wonder who could afford to buy more than a couple of these... But it's a nice thought.

And I guess the rings were the item of the day but here's another one, just for variety's sake.
Sretsis has long been one of my favorite brands for its sweet, soft colored confections, and this jumpsuit really caught my attention [and it's on sale!]
It used to be $748 and now it's $374... Probably on sale because jumpers are a total summer thing and unless you live in Florida or California, it's pretty much a guaranteed stash away until next summer. Still a splurge but looks like it just may be worth it... Tell me what you think! And if you like it it's available here.

Designer of the day is... Tillmann Lauterbach!

He uses a soft color palette for his collections and concentrates on creating clothes that can be discovered from the inside [rough material on the outside, silk/cashmere on the inside].

Today's label of the day is French brand Heimstone!

With clothes in beautiful shades of brown and black, Heimstone's creations are delightfully romantic yet playful. Finally back from my trip to Vegas. All I did was shopping, really. I stayed at Bellagio, which is home to a number of fine shops such as Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, etc. And nearby was the Fashion Show Mall and Forum Shops I could walk to.. I've been to Vegas so many times now, I think I'm going to stop going for a while now. Stuff I got... I stocked up on cashmere sweaters from Ralph Lauren for the fall, in bright colors like yellow and blue. I bought basics like shirts and shorts from Ruehl. At Saks Fifth Avenue, I bought a navy Splendid tank top that I could wear 24/7 with anything. From Dolce & Gabbana, I bought a men's tank top from the Summer '07 collection in medium that I could wear as a dress. When I tried it on, it worked as a dress and a tank top so yeahh. I also bought a Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent brown velvet bolero to wear at formal events. And I think that's all I got.. I'm debating between these two necklaces to buy and I tried both of them on and couldn't decide...

Today, I decided to feature the fashion label House of Holland! House of Holland is currently consisted of several collections of shirts which feature fashion slogans such as "cause me pain hedi slimane", and "get yer freak on giles deacon". British rapper Lady Sovereign seems to be a fan of these shirts. Most shirts are about £35 and can be purchased here. They would go great with leggings and boots, a pair of skinnies, etc... Use your imagination!

Since I don't think I can post over the weekend [hopefully i can, though!] I will also post item of the day! Today's item of the day is...
Maptote! The brainchild of fashion stylist Rachel Rheingold and cartographer Michael Berick, they are a series of canvas totes in beige and black that features humorous maps of places such as Los Angeles, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Washington DC, etc.

At only $15 apiece, they are a chic bargain. I got my Los Angeles tote at Creatures of Comfort on Melrose Avenue [the online store is in my links section], but they can be bought directly from the Maptote online store, and many other places featured on their website. They carry a lot of stuff and are just as stylish as a designer handbag! You can also carry groceries with them, a great way to avoid use of plastic/paper bags...

I have decided to do something worthwhile with this blog. So, my final decision is to transform this blog into a fashion blog, with tips, finds, and of course my life. So I hope this goes over well and I will actually promote this blog now.
So today's item is a pair of sunglasses from the designer duo, SUPER. They come in a kaleidoscope of colors and are handmade from the finest materials available in Italy. The lenses are made by Zeiss and their design is, well, super.
At a price of about $130 and €100, they are not your cheap plastic shades but at the same time, a reasonable splurge for the quality of the product. Fly Away, Fly Away

Intense weekend.
Saturday, I had tutor, and then after, went to Lauren's sweet sixteeeeeeen. We took a charter bus to Melrose Ave., on the way discussing shops and sales and such. We got off and everyone split into groups, and Lauren and I decided to shop together. We went to a lot of shops, like the Wasteland and Lotta, and Kendo, American Vintage, etc. We even saw Nick Cannon in this ghetto shop. It was super hot but hanging out with just Lauren when I hadn't seen her since the end of last year was amazing! Then we called and met up with Alyssa who had to come late and then we went to Creatures of Comfort, my favorite store. They had a cute selection of Repetto flats and oxfords, as well as A.P.C. dresses and Eley Kishimoto clothing. Lauren and I got matching totes with maps on them; I got Los Angeles and she got San Francisco. At checkout, she needed a penny so I gave her one, and then when I checked out, I ended up a penny short so she had to look for a penny for me. Haha. Then we raced back to the bus because we were late [i will never forget the 5 block run on melrose avenue with flats on and people screaming "no running on the streets" and alyssa's "fuck you"] and headed for Sushi Hiroba. We had like literally 7 appetizers before the entree so I ended up taking home a lot of food. Lauren's cake was gorgeous and so was her Lauren Moffatt dress! Our table, with Brian, Daniel, Alyssa, Lauren, and me, was crazy and fun toooooo and we had a really good time. Ahhh I'm gonna miss those kids until I see them again. On the way home on the bus, Lauren opened her presents and we all had some good laughs. What a fun day.

Sunday, I had a violin masterclass and did considerably better than the one on Friday. Even got some compliments and did better than the other boy who will be in my competition category next saturday. After the masterclass, the people that knew each other really well went out to dinner at California Pizza Kitchen!! People that went wereeee: Anita, moi, Patricia, Sarah, Lydia, Rachel, and Ashley. We didn't order that much but we talked A LOT. We had discussions about everything from gelato to shaved ice. Then it was picture time and everyone got their phones/cameras out. It took us like an hour to figure out the bill but it was all good. Then we wished everyone good luck on their competition and hopefully we can meet again the day after the competition holding trophies. Got home and Josephine called me out of sheer boredom and occupied an hour of my life. We had a weird conversation as usual.

Next Sunday, Lauren and I get to meet at Melrose to continue our shopping at the Way We Wore, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith, Kidrobot, etc etc. Je t'aime, mon amie!

Don't Stop

Today was lotsa fun. In the morning I had tutor, but afterwards, my parents took me to Costa Mesa. I first went to the Lab and went shopping. I ended up picking up a couple dresses and a vest at Buffalo Exchange and a Vita snake bangle at Habit. My mom got a dress from Thousands Elsewhere, where I saw the most gorgeous Morphine Generation dress. A bit above my price range, though. Urban was fun to look at but nothing really I wanted... Stopped by ARTH and looked at all their Eugenia Kim stuff which was very cute. Blends had a lot of cool limited edition sneakers as usual and Carve and Harlow were boring. Got a drink at the Gypsie Den, and then left the Lab. We went to the Camp right across the street and hung around there and then went to this japanese market. After that we went to Crystal Cove to watch the sunset and grab dinner. The view was fab as usual and I especially loved it cause I hadn't been there in a while. It would have been nice if we ate at Zinc like we always do but it was closed. Drove home listening to the Libertines. Nothing like a day in OC to make me smile (= Gotta get Lauren's present soon.. Her sweet sixteen party's just around the corner!

I'm tired.
I think I'm gonna hang out at the Lab over the weekend. Hopefully. Habana's food is rather heavenly so I want to go.
Sonic youth is performing at Urban Outfitters Santa Monica and I have tickets but I'm too lazy to go. They were free and anyone can print them online here. Klaxons are all the way over in the Chicago Urban Outfitters. Darn. Missed them at the El Rey but whatever.
The Brazilian Girls concert is coming up. I'm excited. Sabina Sciubba in person. Wow. I wonder if she'll cover her eyes up in some ridiculous costume as usual. Haha.

They Built Paradise

The last few days were a jumble.
Fourth of July was amazing. Went up to Santa Barbara with some chums& went to the beach, went SHOPPING, danced on the streets, and ate a lot of fooood. I bought the weirdest things @ SB. I got a medium highlighter pink henley and green spandex ribbed nylon leggings from American Apparel. I got a pair of funky Vans for twenty bucks. Thenn I got a big gold necklace from Anthropologie and a pair of rose colored Seven jeans from Saks. Needless to say, I'm weird.

Yesterdayyy I just stayed home and barbequed/swam in my backyard all day. Today, I was at research and then went grocery shopping. Funfunfun summer days.

They have already started recording and after the summer will start touring, doing 6 shows in the UK! Yesterday was a handful. Took the SAT I at tutor, then went to the nature center to do research as usual with Matt. Then went shopping with madre. I got a See by Chloe blouse with super puffy sleeves. Can't find a picture online. Then had a dinner appointment with my parents at this amazing but low profile Japanese restaurant that was packed with.. Japanese people. Hah. From the outside it looks really weird but the food was really good. The dinner was even better because my sister wasn't there. Haha. She was at Knott's with her weird friends. Anyways. I just woke up, took a shower, and dressed. Peace.

The Waiting Room

Last night was oh-so-amazingly awesome. After the Spring Finale concert, Jackie and I decided to go to the movies. Then i dragged Edward with us and we watched Pirates of the Caribbean at 10:10 pm. We ended up going home sometime around 1:30. Lots of popcorn, coke, and a caramel macchiato were just some of the items involved.

Fsho I remember this part.

Todayyy I had an orthodontist appointment and my braces kinda hurt. Augh.

Just came back from Pinkberry. Regular medium with raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries.

Saw Jenniferawrrr there as well with her sister. Today was tiring. I swear I was moving 24/7 today at school even during lunch. I had to meet with my counselor, turn in apps, etc. Next year's schedule's looking tough. Adv orchestra, Calculus BC AP, Biology 2AP, Chemistry 2AP, US History AP, French 3 Honors, English 3 Honors, and Scientific Research. Augh, and the summer assignment for US History AP's gay.
Anyways, I hate talking about school. Conditioning today was funfunfun as usual cause I love my girls. And some of the guys. Hah. My cat just joined me on the bed.

Yesssir that's my gorgeous Nathan at the vet's. Yeahyeahyeah. Guess who I get to hang with on Sunday. The amazing Lauren. Although she only lives minutes away in Torrance, I never see her face. That's why we're crashing a party or two on Sunday together. Hah. Jk. We'd never do such a thing. Anywhoo.

Lauren, June, and Amy @ Homecoming `06 seems like forever ago. but it was actually this school year. Didn't we have fun. Especially at my house before& after and of course the dance was amazing as usual.

The Rising

Zero period today. Waking up is a bitch. Put some clothes on and quick breakfast and out I go. School was uneventful as usual. Hot, then cold. Horrible classes. After school had violin lessson. Then rushed to a party. Lots of food and fun. And some crazy things. Then orchestra rehersal. Boring as heck. I miss (insert word of choice). I'm counting the days.

Jil Sander is amazing.

Philip Lim as well.

Ahh. I'm dreaming of this. Returning to the Ritz in Paris. Je veux aller maitenant.

Hope is tomorrow's veneer over today's disappointment.

Memorial Day Stints

Woke up around 9ishh and took a shower. Wore my Miss Sixty pair of skinnies and, a yellow tunic from Anthropologie, a pink Juicy Couture shirt, wine red cardigan from Free People, and Marc by Marc Jacobs flats. Oh, and my tortoise shell reading glasses from Urban Outfitters and a button thread necklace from my label Alfalfa Queen&Co.
Quick breakfast and took off for Seal Beach. Hung around there for like 2 hours and then hit the road again for Costa Mesa's amazing South Coast Plaza. Which was a treat since I hadn't been there for a couple months. Not too many people which was good, but also not many stores with good sales. Didn't look around in too many stores, but just the basics, like Ron Herman, Saks Fifth, Ralph Lauren, H&M, and Barneys Co-Op. All I ended up getting was a pair of jeans from Barneys. I'd been looking for a pair of skinny stonewashed jeans for a long time so I was kinda happy. They're from this obscure brand called Cheap Monday headed by some Swedish designers. With reasonable price and style, I snatched them before someone else.

Also at Barneys Co-Op were some amazing 3.1 Phillip Lim dresses and Diane von Furstenberg blouses. Stopped by Tory Burch's store and got to look at some amazing tank tops and sweaters.
On the way home, I thumbed through the Jil Sander Womens Spring 2007 collection catalogue while sipping a double chocolate light frap. Which made me sick [the drink, not Sander's collection]. What a productive day.
